FOOD ALLERGY BASICS

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

After attending this course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize and describe the symptoms of an allergic reaction to food
  • Define anaphylaxis
  • List the three life saving properties of epinephrine
  • Demonstrate use of an EpiPen® using an EpiPen trainer
  • Implement techniques to reduce food allergen exposures in the school and childcare setting

We are able to come to your facility to teach “Food Allergy Awareness”, thanks to a grant from, ”Food Allergy Awareness, Support and Training”.

We will require the following:

  • 3.5 hour in-service time to teach the class

  • A minimum of 12 students

  • Adult-sized tables and chairs for the students, and a T.V. with a VCR or DVD

  • A blank wall or screen in which to show power point slides

  • Call 513-792-4000 and leave contact information for Jean Ellsworth. We will call you to schedule your class.

3.5 In-service hours will be given to licensed childcare providers
