FOOD ALLERGY BASICS
COURSE OBJECTIVES
After attending this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognize and describe the symptoms of an allergic reaction to food
- Define anaphylaxis
- List the three life saving properties of epinephrine
- Demonstrate use of an EpiPen® using an EpiPen trainer
- Implement techniques to reduce food allergen exposures in the school and childcare setting

We are able to come to your facility to teach “Food Allergy Awareness”, thanks to a grant from, ”Food Allergy Awareness, Support and Training”.
We will require the following:

3.5 hour in-service time to teach the class

A minimum of 12 students

Adult-sized tables and chairs for the students, and a T.V. with a VCR or DVD

A blank wall or screen in which to show power point slides

3.5 In-service hours will be given to licensed childcare providers
