Food Allergy Facts

A food allergy is an abnormal response of the immune system to a food protein.

Allergic reactions to food can be life-threatening.

Foods causing the majority of allergic reactions include milk, peanuts, eggs, shellfish fish, nuts, soy and wheat.

Even eating a trace amount of an allergenic food can cause a reaction.

For detailed information about anaphylaxis, visit the FAAN website.
